TownCommons.com helps users create, organize, and share local information. It was founded in 2008 by John Workman and has its offices in the Scott Technology Center, adjacent to the Peter Kiewit Institute and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
About the Name and Logo
The name Town Commons was selected to bring to mind a shared resource for everyone in the town. This is most visibly present in a village green or a park such as the Boston Common. The logo was developed by Bozell, a marketing communications firm in Omaha, and was described by the designer as follows: “This design consists of simple shapes to form a line of trees and when intersecting, creates city buildings – suggesting that both coexist to form a community. Interaction and collaboration are also inspired by the overlapping lines.”
